S&P 500 after first rate hike (1994 - 2004)

The last rate-hikes had as a consequence the S&P 500-developments above; 1997 looked easy. In the following comparison-chart one can see the S&P 500-developments after each rate-hike-cycle-starts between 1983 and 1988. 1987 was a "nice rate-hike-cycle-starting year".

S&P 500 after first rate hike (before 1993)

Following chart may help the one or the other to use your imagination. It shows an overlay of the GERMAN DAX-Index between June 2014 and April 2015 on the one side and on the other side there is the S&P 500 from June 2015!! up to 8th Dec. 2015 (Tuesday of last week). Important to know, that during Q1-2015 DAX-stocks produced short-term gains of + 22 percent (data-source Bloomberg):
